EcoSun Pass is BASF‘s new methodology for assessing the environmental impact of sunscreens, a demonstration that the company is committed to the environmentally friendly beauty industry.

Developed by Care Creations division, the tool assesses the environmental compatibility of UV filter systems in sunscreens based on eight internationally recognized criteria – from biodegradation and aquatic toxicity – to the potential for endocrine disruption, since, according to the company, consumers want sun protection products more ecologicals.

“We want to support our customers in increasing the environmental compatibility of their products. EcoSun Pass allows us to advise formulators already during the development stage, which of the combinations of UV filters are more suitable for their application – in the interest of both the consumer and the environment, “said Dr. Christian Cremer, Director of Global Development and Technical Service Protection, Personal Care Solutions Europe.
