The Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation (EMBRAPII) and the Brazilian Association of the Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry (ABIHPEC) have signed a strategic alliance to foster research and innovation projects among companies in the sector.

In addition to bringing the sector’s relations closer to the network of EMBRAPII Units, important research centers in Brazil, and making it a reference for research and innovation activities for the entire production chain in the area of personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics, the alliance, signed virtually during the meeting of the Scientific and Technological Council, it will promote Cooperated Projects among companies in the personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics sector and also between companies and their supply chains.

Brazil is the fourth world market for personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics (HPPC) and the third in launching new products. Consumers are increasingly demanding: in addition to quality, they are looking for sustainable products with good practices throughout the production chain.
Investing in innovation is strategic so that companies are able to meet the growing demand and to encourage the development of RD&I in the personal care sector.

“The Brazilian follows the world trend and seeks to consume products that are concerns with sustainability in all production. The industry is attentive to consumer behavior and Embrapii is prepared to support it in the development of new technologies ”, highlights EMBRAPII’s CEO, Jorge Guimarães.

“The cooperation agreement between ABIHPEC and Embrapii marks an important step forward in the development of new proposals for technological innovation for the HPPC sector, especially in this moment in which we are living, in which we continue to prioritize health and safety care for our population and simultaneously , we have the challenge of collaborating with the recovery of the economy”, says João Carlos Basilio, executive president of ABIHPEC.

The EMBRAPII Units have skills that can contribute to overcome the technological challenges of companies with solutions in nanotechnology, biotechnology, advanced materials and Information Technologies, which can promote a more economical and sustainable production process, among others.

According to the Director of Planning and Management, José Luis Gordon, cooperative innovation has multiple advantages: sharing efforts, knowledge, costs and risks in a pre-competitive environment.

Along with the agreement, Embrapii does not enter the Scientific and Technological Council of ABIHPEC, and executive José Luis Gordon assumes the position of advisor, alongside advisors in the health, academic and industrial sectors.

According to Basilio, EMBRAPII’s participation will leverage the sector’s research and development and, mainly, it will provide new innovative and cooperative proposals, so that the entire collective of the entity’s associates, especially smaller companies, can incorporate in their DNA , all this content and learnings provided by the Board, in order to remain competitive and innovative in the market.
