The questions that hovered over the use of lead in the composition of Brazilian lipsticks, Inmetro – National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology – conducted evaluations in 15 different brands available in the market, considering the criteria established in the legislation for the concentration of lead and in relation to consumer health issues.

All brands were approved and this result was disclosed in December 2017. The lead content of the analyzed samples was below the recommended values, demonstrating that the tendency of the lipsticks marketed in Brazil is to have a maximum lead level of less than 5mg / kg and that most brands contain a maximum level of 1 mg / kg.
