Much less than the forecast of 35% increase in sales for Mother’s Day predictd by by Tray, Locaweb‘s e-commerce unit, where perfumery was pointed out as one of the segments responsible for the high, the e-commerce sales on Mothers grew 12 percent over last year to 2.11 billion reais, according to Ebit, a company specializing in information on Brazilian digital retail, released this Tuesday.

The survey conducted between April 28 and May 12 showed a 10 percent increase in the average purchase price to 459 reais and a 2 percent increase in order volume to 4.6 million. Smartphones, televisions and perfumes were the most bought products.

The Mothers Day period should account for 4 percent of Internet sales revenue throughout the year, second only to Christmas, Black Friday, and tied with Fathers Day, according to Ebit estimates.
